Meeka's Story
Meeka was a Boxer dog and he was first a foster dog. The owners loved Meeka so much that they adopted her. She was a rescue from a puppy mill in Pennsylvania. When they first took her home she had worms, mites in her ears, and scars on her neck from a shock collar. Meeka would always try to sneak under the fence and run away. Meeka was afraid of teenage boys, TVs, stairs and the house in general. Also, she had trouble trusting her owners. It took a total of two weeks for her to trust her owner. When Meeka began to get comfortable with her surroundings she loved to snuggle on the bed and couch, run in the yard, play with toys, car rides and going on walks. Since her puppies were taken quickly away from her she would take anything soft and cuddle with it on the couch. It breaks the owners heart when she sees Meeka does this.

The dog in the video above is named Stallone and he is a six year old pit bull. Stallone was recused in July 2009 with another hundred dogs. The HSUS never since a dog in such bad shape before. Stallone had injuries all over and he had cuts all over his face. Even  though he was scared all he wanted was to cuddle, kiss, and be loved by the doctors. During the examination the veterinarians concluded that his injuries were to sever to treat. They did everything they could to save him but Stallone didn't survive.

Dogs Being Killed For Experiments

In Georgia Regents University dogs were being bought for dental experiments. They got the dogs from a Class B dog dealer. A Class B dealer normally from random sources. Some examples are auctions, fleas, markets, animal shelters, lost or stray dogs, and even from someones home. While this undercover investigation they learned that dogs were being used to perform life risking dental implant. They also killed dogs only for a part of their jaw. They were doing these surgeries to compare implants they made to other private companies. Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of The HSUS take on this was, "Dogs don't need to die for frivolous dental experiments. It's painful to watch these forlorn dogs sacrificed for these questionable purposes. And the situation is compounded by the university's relationship with an unscrupulous animal dealer." The HSUS witnessed dog's teeth getting pulled out and getting replaced with implants and getting euthanized to take out a piece of their jaw. This problem has been going on for years until this under cover investigation.

Treats Are Killing

Petco and Pet Smart both stopped sell treats that were being made in China. The treats were making dogs ill since 2007. So far there are 4,800 illness and 1,000 deaths reported. Treats like chicken, duck or sweet potato jerky treats are making the dogs sick. Pet Smart plans to take these products off the shelf by March 2015. Many people question why Pet Smart doesn't take the treats out sooner. Pet Smart owners stated, "We don't want to leave pet parents high and dry" (http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/petsmart-stop-selling-pet-treats-made-china-23808928).  Since more of the customers like the treats made from China better the company will switch to similar treats. However Petco will be removing these treats out of 1,300 stores by the end of this year. When the FDA tested the chicken jerky they found antiviral drugs amantadine, but they said this isn't causing the illness. The investigations still continue
